New, streamlined processes take effect immediately: Include guaranteed acceptance (rules apply), which courses transfer, tuition and scholarships
Undergraduate students who decide to transfer between schools have traditionally experienced difficulties with the process. In a responsive move to eliminate their frustration, Lake Erie College (LEC) has announced good news for students applying to transfer to the historic 4-year college campus located in Painesville, Ohio. "Transferring from one institution to another can be very intimidating for a lot of students so our goal is to make the transition to LEC as smooth as possible starting with the admission process. We want students to know how all of their coursework will transfer so they are able to make an educated decision about coming to LEC,” commented Ashley Mayse, MBA, Director of Admissions. “Our team is here to help in any way that we can and we will walk students through the process so that they feel comfortable from start to finish." According to a 2022 government survey, as many as 40% of all college students transfer to another school at least once during their educational journey. Lake Erie College’s changes will remove some traditional stumbling blocks encountered in the process of transferring, benefiting students in the following ways: The College’s commitment to respond to a transfer application with news of acceptance within 72 hours will relieve the most anxious student. Students will know almost immediately what courses will be accepted upon transfer. The transfer of credits became clearer with the recognition that Core Requirements are satisfied for community college graduates holding an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree. Those students will only need to complete their major-related classes once enrolled at Lake Erie College. In addition, all courses with a grade of C- and above are accepted upon transfer. “Students with an associate degree will now be able to focus on their major coursework instead of being required to take additional core classes once they arrive at LEC”, Ashley Mayse, MBA, Director of Admissions, continued. “This will support focus on their intended major, enabling them to graduate in as little time as possible, saving both time and money. This is a win-win!" A final promise to be delivered within 72 hours of application is how much it will cost to attend. There Is plenty of financial aid available to make Lake Erie College affordable: all Incoming full-time transfer students are eligible for renewable merit scholarships of up to $18,000 per year. In addition, students transferring from one of the College’s five local community college partners are automatically eligible for an additional annual $2,000 scholarship ($1,000 per semester, renewable). The five community college partner schools are: Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), Eastern Gateway Community College, Erie County Community College (PA), Lakeland Community College, and Lorain Community College. Nearly 30% of all U.S. undergraduates are enrolled in public, 2-year colleges. Research has shown this path meets students’ initial academic and financial needs, with a great percentage intending to complete their education by attaining a 4-year degree. Lake Erie College’s reasonable cost, convenience, personal attention, and relevant academic majors make it a perfect match for the discerning student completing their bachelor degree.
