Introducing Lake Erie College's New Board Leadership | Patricia Nocero as Chair and James Gargas as Vice Chair

Lake Erie College is pleased to announce the election of Patricia A. Nocero as the Chair of the Board of Directors and James E. Gargas as Vice Chair. This leadership transition marks a significant milestone for the college as it continues to advance its mission and strengthen its governance.

Lake Erie College, a distinguished institution dedicated to providing a transformative education, is guided by a committed Board of Directors. This board plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction and ensuring the college's continued success.

Patricia Nocero, who graduated from Lake Erie College in 1973, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. With a background in law and education, Patricia has a deep-rooted connection to the college. Her career has spanned various roles, including time as an instructor at Lake Erie College, a partner at Wiles and Richards, and an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Lake County. Her extensive service on the Board of Trustees, including her tenure as Trustee Emeritus, underscores her longstanding commitment to the institution.

James Gargas, a 2004 graduate of Lake Erie College, brings expertise and a global perspective to his role as Vice Chair. After earning a master’s degree in accountancy from Miami University, James embarked upon a distinguished career in Consulting Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, which continues to grow. James's previous service on the boards of several non-profits, including Calvary Women’s Services in Washington, D.C., and The Point Foundation (National LGBTQ Scholarship Fund), reflects his commitment to communities through impactful leadership.

Patricia and James are committed to guiding Lake Erie College toward a future of continued excellence. Their vision includes enhancing and further elevating the college’s academic programs, expanding its broadening community outreach involvement, and further fostering an environment rooted in purpose and inclusion that supports students and faculty. Their leadership will be instrumental in navigating the college through the evolving educational landscape.

The college administration is enthusiastic about the new leadership. “Patricia and James bring a unique blend of experience and passion to their roles. Their dedication to Lake Erie College is unparalleled, and we are confident that under their leadership, the college will reach new heights,” said Lake Erie College President Jennifer N. Schuller, who has signed a three-year contract to continue as President.

President Schuller stated, “Patricia and James are exceptional leaders with a deep understanding of Lake Erie College’s mission. I look forward to working closely with them as we embark on this exciting new chapter.”

The next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 26. The agenda will include discussions on strategic priorities and initiatives for the coming year, reflecting the new leadership’s vision for the college.
