Laura Stockhaus Appointed Dean of School of Equine Studies

Lake Erie College is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Stockhaus as the new Interim Dean of the School of Equine Studies. Stockhaus, who has been a distinguished faculty member at Lake Erie College since 2013, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to equine education.

Stockhaus succeeds Dr. Pamela Hess, who recently retired after 14 years of dedicated service to Lake Erie College. During her tenure, Dr. Hess significantly contributed to the growth and development of the School of Equine Studies, leaving a lasting impact on both students and faculty.

“We are grateful for the many years of exceptional service and dedication that Dr. Hess gave to Lake Erie College. As we transition to new leadership, we are very excited about the skill set that Laura will bring to the position and look forward to the opportunities that the future holds for our Equine programs,” said Provost, Dr. Jenni Kinnaird.

"I am honored and excited to lead the Equine Studies program at Lake Erie College," said Laura Stockhaus. "My vision is to evolve our programming to meet the dynamic needs of the industry while maintaining a comprehensive approach.”

Stockhaus holds a Master of Business Administration from Lake Erie College and has nearly 20 years of experience in equine studies. Her vision for the School of Equine Studies includes the integration of the Equestrian Center with the main campus to enhance accessibility to unique opportunities offered by Lake Erie College. She also plans to innovate and ensure the program remains relevant, citing the introduction of the newest concentration in Equine Fitness Management and Rehabilitation as an example of ongoing innovation.

"In addition to programmatic advancements, I am committed to reestablishing relationships with the local equestrian community and fostering philanthropic support to solidify the future of our program," Stockhaus added.

Lake Erie College expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Hess for her exemplary leadership and wishes her a fulfilling retirement.
