A closer look at the work of Melvin Van Peebles with Dr. David Moody| Event

Dr. David Moody, Associate Professor of Communication, brings his expertise in studying popular culture to a discussion of the films of Melvin Van Peebles. Dr. Moody, who is a past board chair of the Popular Culture Association and heads the Black Popular Culture area division at the PCA, has published widely in the field, including books on The Complexity and Progression of Black Representation in Film and Television (2016) and Political Melodies in the Pews?: The Voice of the Black Christian Rapper in the Twenty-first-Century Church (2012) and is editing a forthcoming volume on New Perspectives on Black Popular Culture. In addition to his scholarly work, Dave frequently can be found acting in local theatre productions, especially at the Blank Canvas Theatre; he also has performed in plays at the Cleveland Playhouse and has been an actor in several film productions.
