Give a Damn Week| Event
Lake Erie College proudly presents Give a Damn Week, a dedicated initiative focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Inspired by the iconic 1960s photograph of LEC students protesting the Vietnam War, this weeklong event reflects our institution’s rich history of activism and commitment to addressing today's pressing social issues.
Each day will feature themed activities encouraging students, faculty, and staff to engage with important topics that shape our world. Join us in making a difference!
Event Schedule
Monday, March 17 – Give a Damn About Your Heritage
Celebrate your cultural heritage and family history!
Reflect on your ancestral roots: Where did your family originate? How many generations have lived in America? Wear attire that represents your heritage to show pride in your background.
Lunch Activity: Map of the World - join us at lunch to add a spot on the map from where your ancestors are from. Special Event: Open Mic Pub Popup St. Patrick's Day Celebration at The Black Dog Tavern – Join us for an evening of music, storytelling, and community in honor of St. Patrick’s Day!
Tuesday, March 18 – Give a Damn About Your Health
Prioritize your well-being—both mental and physical.
Lunch Activity: Create your own meal prep to promote healthy eating habits. Event: Yoga session at 6:30 PM in the Lincoln Learning Commons.
Wednesday, March 19 – What Do You Give a Damn About?
Advocate for the causes that matter most to you.
Identify your passion: Is it environmental sustainability, animal welfare, LGBTQ+ rights, or another social justice issue? Day Activity: Little Pantry Drive - bring some canned goods to Holden to help us fill the campus little pantries. Event: Enjoy Late Night Breakfast at 9:30 PM.
Thursday, March 20 – Give a Damn About the Decades
Prepare to represent your decade in The Decades Drive—the ultimate alumni showdown! From the rockin’ ‘50s to the trailblazing ‘20s, every graduating class has a shot at victory. Whether you grooved in bell bottoms or perfected the selfie game, now’s your chance to show your school spirit and give back!
Alumni + Friends: Rally your classmates, make your mark, and help your decade come out on top! Current Students: Show your gratitude! Stop by the alumni table at lunch to post a thank-you message to our incredible donors.

Friday, March 21 – Give a Damn About Purple
Commemorate Tracy Dickinson Day with school spirit and campus-wide fun!
Wear purple to celebrate Tracy Dickinson '78 and her impact on LEC. Enjoy special treats and participate in the Tracy Dickinson Scavenger Hunt. Find all seven locations on campus named after Tracy. Email your photos to dremington@lec.edu by 1:30 PM for a chance to win a gift card. 2:00 PM – GIVE A DAMN Photo on the back porch of College Hall – Wear your Give A Damn t-shirt!
