Update on the 2024-2025 FAFSA | for our Lake Erie Storm Community:
The 2024-2025 FAFSA has now become available on-line after experiencing a “soft launch” phase for the last few weeks. We have received reports of students now being able to complete the FAFSA, and some students have experienced a few delays in completion. We know that some families are having difficulty accessing their Federal Student Aid IDs and/or the FAFSA form itself at this time. If you cannot get the FAFSA site to work, please don’t panic. Just keep trying. Federal Student Aid is continuing to monitor the performance of the newly updated FAFSA, and we expect the successful submission of the FAFSAs to increase throughout the month of January. We are expecting to begin receiving the data from Federal Student Aid at the end of January to then be able to begin preparing packages from then on until all FAFSAs are processed. Remember that we are still in the early days with the new site, and there are programming glitches. Normally when the FAFSA goes live on October 1 st , the entire country isn’t trying to access the FAFSA during the same week. Please be assured that you have time and that your financial aid offer will not be impacted by the delays in the FAFSA availability, processing and submission. You should continue to work on getting your FAFSA submitted with patience and with the knowledge that there may still be some delays.
Before you begin:
You will need to Create a New FSA ID if one does not exist. Each student and contributor (for Dependent students) will need to have an active FSA ID to complete and sign the FAFSA.
When completing your FAFSA, be sure to include Lake Erie College’s school code – 003066 – when applying. Please reach out to our Financial Aid Office at 440-375-7100 or finaid@lec.edu with any questions.
