Faculty Spotlight - Reilly Murphy | Head Coach, Football

“By demonstrating excellence in both the classroom and on their teams, our student-athletes are better prepared for the challenges they might face in life. The ability to practice and nurture skills such as time management and prioritizing will undoubtedly help our students later in life as they try to accomplish their goals.” Coach Murphy believes that the small-college environment makes it easy to get out of one’s comfort zone and create relationships that last a lifetime. He encourages his team to get involved in the campus community by participating in various student activities and getting to know their professors. The Storm Football team is a great “melting pot,” with players representing states across the country who are building their unique skills together. Football provides lots of unique challenges for students, and Coach Murphy sees tremendous opportunities in those challenges. With the busy lives of student-athletes, he is motivated to work with the campus community to improve all aspects of his team’s experiences, whether academic or football related. Coach Murphy relates to his students with a deep understanding by remembering his personal experiences as a student-athlete. He is guided by the philosophy that life is not always easy and that sometimes the hardest things are the most rewarding.
