Fulbright Scholar Dr. Lorena Rodriguez Martinez to Visit| Lake Erie College

Lake Erie College is honored to announce a special visit by Dr. Lorena Rodriguez Martinez, a renowned Fulbright Scholar from Spain, from September 25-28, 2024. Dr. Rodriguez Martinez, currently conducting research at Harvard University, will engage with the Lake Erie College community through stimulating events and lectures. This visit is made possible by the Fulbright Outreach Lecturing Fund. About Dr. Lorena Rodriguez Martinez

Dr. Lorena Rodriguez Martinez is a Xunta de Galicia GAIN-Fulbright Fellow Scientist at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass. Eye and Ear at Harvard University. Her research focuses on age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss. Dr. Rodriguez Martinez is investigating whether rejuvenating retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells through epigenetic reprogramming can restore their protective capabilities against AMD. By using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) derived from patients, her work aims to develop new therapeutic strategies to counteract damage caused by AMD.
