Lake Erie College Announces Leadership Restructuring| and New Appointments
Lake Erie College is excited to announce the appointment of two distinguished academic leaders; Dr. Amanda Curtis is the new Dean of the School of Business and Social Sciences, and Dr. Gregory Rothwell is the new Dean of the School of Education. As part of the College’s ongoing efforts to enhance its academic programs and administrative efficiency, the institution is restructuring its leadership to include five distinct schools, up from the previous four.
In a strategic effort to enhance leadership focus, Lake Erie College has separated the roles of Provost and Dean of the School of Business and Social Sciences. We are delighted to introduce Amanda Curtis as the new Dean of the School of Business and Social Science. Curtis, who has been an influential member of the College’s Department of Sport Management, is renowned for her innovative teaching methods and dedication to academic excellence.
Curtis, an esteemed Associate Professor of Sport Management, brings a wealth of experience and creativity to her new role. Her unique approach to education, including real-world applications like fantasy football leagues, has significantly enriched the curriculum. Curtis holds a Ph.D. in Health and Sport Studies from the University of Iowa and has a background deeply rooted in education, being the daughter and granddaughter of teachers. Her vision for the School includes expanding experiential learning opportunities and enhancing the integration of critical thinking and real-world application into the business programs.
“We are thrilled to welcome Amanda Curtis as the Dean of the School of Business and Social Science,” said Lake Erie College Provost Jennifer Kinnaird. “Her extensive background in sport management and innovative teaching methods will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective and drive new initiatives that will benefit our students and the business community.”
Additionally, Lake Erie College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Gregory Rothwell as the new Dean of the School of Education. Dr. Rothwell, who currently serves as the Program Director for the Department of Education and an Assistant Professor of Education at Lake Erie College, brings a distinguished record of leadership and a strong commitment to educational excellence.
Dr. Rothwell's previous roles include Assistant Principal and Head Principal at Follansbee Middle School and Brooke High School in West Virginia. His extensive experience includes significant contributions to curriculum development, advanced placement courses, and STEMM education. Dr. Rothwell holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Management and Leadership from Robert Morris University and has a history of advancing educational technology and innovative practices.

Previously, the School of Education was part of the School of Arts, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Jennifer Swartz-Levine will continue as the Dean of the School of Arts, Humanities and Honors, ensuring a continued focus on these important areas.
