Parker MBA Program Options4+1 MBA Program
The Lake Erie College 4+1 program is an accelerated course of study that enables students in any undergraduate major to earn their bachelor’s degree and the Master of Business Administration degree -- all in five years.
To Be Eligible, the Student Must Have:
1. Completed at least 90 undergraduate semester credits
2. A cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.00.
Students who meet the above criteria may register for up to 12 semester credits of courses in the Lake Erie College Master of Business Administration program. These courses may be counted as elective credits towards bachelor’s degree completion.
To continue in the MBA program, students must officially apply to the Lake Erie College Parker MBA program upon graduation. Upon admission to the program, up to 12 semester credits of such coursework in which the student has earned a grade of "B” or better will be applied towards the 36 semester credits required for the MBA degree. Participation requires an application and approval by the Dean of the School of Business.
Traditional MBA Program
The traditional MBA program allows students to graduate in approximately two years by taking two courses over six semesters (fall, spring and summer). Each class typically meets one day per week in the evenings. With this program students also have the option of taking only one course per semester and completing their MBA in approximately four years.
Accelerated MBA Program
Our accelerated option allows students the opportunity to complete their MBA in as little as 11 months. In this program students take two courses each Saturday (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) in each of six seven-week sessions. This is a very rigorous and challenging program intended only for students willing to focus intensely on their graduate studies. If students only want to take one course at a time on Saturdays, they should plan on completing their MBA in approximately 23 months.
Health Care Administration Concentration
The concentration in health care administration prepares Parker MBA students for staff, managerial and leadership roles in the health care industry. The nine credit hours in the health care concentration cover topics including the U.S. health care delivery system, health care financing and policy, legal and ethical issues and the effective management of health care organizations. The concentration deals with the application of business concepts to the health care industry in a broad context, covering not only provider organizations such as hospitals, but other industry participants such as pharmaceutical and medical technology enterprises, as well.
If students have an undergraduate degree in accounting and plan to sit for the Ohio CPA exam, they may be eligible for the LEC accelerated MBA for accounting majors. Under this unique program students can earn the MBA degree by completing 10 courses rather than the normally required 12 and still earn the 150 college credits required to sit for the exam.
