Flag Retirement Station and Ceremonies to be held at Lake Erie College
In honor of Flag Day, June 14, members of the Lake Erie College Veterans Education Transition Program will host a day-long flag retirement station and conduct several flag retirement ceremonies throughout the day. The flag retirement station will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Official flag retirement ceremonies will take place at 9:00 a.m., Noon and 6:00 p.m.
“As a retired U.S. Army Veteran and coordinator of Lake Erie College’s V.E.T.S. program, I recognize the importance to serve the College and the community. Often, citizens are unsure as to how to properly dispose of their flag. The goal of the ceremony is to educate the community and remember what Flag Day signifies,” said Bob Mastronicola, VETS Coordinator.
The community is encouraged to bring their worn or tattered American flag for appropriate retirement and learn about proper flag etiquette. The event is free and will be held near the Austin Hall of Science building flagpole.
Lake Erie College is located at 391 W. Washington St., Painesville. Veterans and community organizations are welcome to assist in staffing the event. To participate or for more information, contact Bob Mastronicola at firstname.lastname@example.org or 440.375.7007.
