Students of Academic Distinction to Compete in Presidential Scholarship Competition
Academic Excellence is the focus of the upcoming Presidential Honors Scholarship Competition, to be held February 21 at Lake Erie College. The invitation-only competition welcomes incoming freshmen students who have a high school GPA of 3.5 or better, earned a minimum score of 25 on the ACT or 1800 on the SAT and submitted a 1500 word essay. The day will consist of a focused interview, team building exercises and a final exam. The competition will conclude with lunch at Quail Hollow.
Students who participate in the Presidential Scholarship Competition will have the opportunity to win additional scholarship dollars beyond their existing Emerging, Leadership or Presidential award, ranging from $3,000 up to a full-tuition waiver. All scholarships are renewable for four years as long as a student maintains a 3.0 GPA.
“We are extremely pleased to recognize stellar high school academic performance through our Presidential Honors Scholarship Competition. These students were selected based on a combination of curricular and co-curricular activities and represent the continued focus of academic excellence which Lake Erie College has embodied for 155 years,” said Christopher Harris, dean of admissions and financial aid.
