Lake Erie Equestrians continue their momentum during IHSA Home Show
On Saturday November 6th, Lake Erie College equestrians competed in an IHSA horse show at the Lake Erie College George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center. The team
, took home Reserve High Point Team honors and Emily Eckenberger earned the Reserve High Point Rider nod. Eight teams and over 100 riders participated in the event, hosted by Lake Erie College.
The ladies also competed on Sunday November 7th with Lake Erie College tying with The University of Findlay for High Point Team and Nicole Van Dyke earning honors as the High Point Rider.
Over this past semester, many Lake Erie riders qualified for the IHSA Regional finals, including Corinne Lane, Courtney Newby, Lisa Toulan, Emily Eckenberger, Megan Marcinkewicz, Stephanie Papais, Erin Daring, Chrissy Nemeth, Megan Niswonger, Kaleigh Ciereck, Michelle Heinz and Codi Bair.
“I am extremely proud of this team. We are competing in a new region this year that includes the 2010 reserve national championship team. The competition is fierce and the girls have an amazing attitude and work ethic,” said Mary Pardee, IHSA English coach and Director of Riding.
The IHSA provides collegiate riders of all skills the opportunity to compete individually and as teams in equestrian competition. It was founded on the principle that any college student should be able to participate in horse shows regardless of his or her riding ability or financial status.
