Women’s Soccer’s Yurick Named First Team Academic All-District

Sophomore Taylor Yurick (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) was named to the ESPN Academic All-District IV first team in the College Division as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  As a first team selection, Yurick is now eligible for the national ESPN Academic All-America ballot which will be announced in mid-November.

Each of the six college division districts, comprised of NCAA Division II, III and NAIA schools has a squad of 11 players, including four defenders, named to a first, second or third team based on academic and athletic accomplishments.

Yurick has played in and started 35 games in her two-year career as a center back in the Lake Erie defense.  As a freshman, Yurick accounted for two assists.

A double major in biology and chemistry with a pre-med concentration, Yurick boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA. Following her time at Lake Erie, the Olmsted Falls native plans on attending graduate school and pursuing a career in anesthesiology. When not in class or on the soccer pitch, Yurick works at a stable where she trains horses and has volunteered on weeklong missions with Habitat for Humanity the past four summers.

Yurick becomes the first Lake Erie women's soccer play to receive this first team distinction.  In 2006, graduate Angela Bethel received a second team honor.
