Lake Erie College and City of Painesville partner for Welcome Back Concert
The third annual “Welcome Back” concert will be on Sunday, August 29 from 2-8 p.m. at the Lake Erie College quad behind College Hall. The event, a collaboration between the City of Painesville and Lake Erie College, is a celebration designed to welcome students back to school and their collegiate city. The day features music, food and fun in an upbeat atmosphere.
The event is coordinated by the city of Painesville and members of the College business group, Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). According to the event organizer, Steven Abbott, the event is a great way to build relationships and become involved with Lake Erie College.
“We began the concerts to initiate activity between the students, the city of Painesville and local businesses,” said Abbott. “When we realized that we were making a profit through sponsorships and donations, we decided to donate the proceeds to a worthwhile charity. This year, we chose Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio, which helps children reach their potential through one-to-one relationships with mentors that have a measureable impact on youth,” he added.
The event features local musical bands including Trainwreck, Southern Boulevard, Nick Zuber and Call Us Kings. Food vendors will also be available and informational booths will also be set up around the College quad featuring the many businesses and social service agencies that call Painesville home.
This event is free and open to the public. All proceeds from donations and event sponsors will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio.
