Lake Erie College hosts second annual Equine Entrepreneurship Riding Camp
June 27 -July 3 and July 11 - July 17 2010
Lake Erie College will be hosting the second annual Equine Entrepreneurship Riding Camps Sunday, June 27 through Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 11 through Saturday, July 17 at the George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center.
The one-of-a-kind equestrian camp provides students (sophomores or juniors in high school preferred) with the unique opportunity to experience the academic and equestrian program at one of the pre-eminent college equestrian programs in the country. During the week, students will work with industry professionals and Lake Erie College professors to learn the careers available to equine entrepreneurs, as well as business and marketing strategies that specifically address the needs of the horse world. The students will also alternate riding classes with course work in equine entrepreneurism.
The riding classes will encompass all four disciplines that are offered at the College: Hunters, Jumpers, Dressage and Eventing.
Accommodations for the one-week camp include room, board, transportation during the camp, riding classes, academic courses and evening activities. Students will be responsible for their transportation to and from the camp. The cost for this unique camp experience is $750; however the Lake Erie College Center for Entrepreneurship will be providing a series of full and partial scholarships to support the program. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a recommendation letter and essay questions.
Students are expected to ride at a level comparable to “A” Circuit Children’s/Junior Hunters or Jumpers, Pony Club “C2-C3,” etc. The top 16 applicants, from throughout the country will be accepted for each session of the camp. NOMINATION SUBMISSION IS NOW CLOSED.
