Robert and Melissa Shearer make leadership gift to Lake Erie College
Robert Shearer and his wife Melissa have pledged $250,000 in unrestricted support to Lake Erie College. Their gift, coming just before the holiday season, marks a strong beginning to the College’s fundraising efforts for the current academic year.

As CEO, Shearer is responsible for developing the culture and guiding the expansion of the family-owned, 35-year-old company where the customer always comes first.
During his tenure, the company has grown from a $4 million business with a handful of associates to over $200 million in annual sales with more than 850 associates. Shearer’s has been recognized for 11 consecutive years as a Northcoast 99 Company, one of Northeast Ohio’s best workplaces for top talent.
Shearer has been involved with Lake Erie College since becoming a member of the board of directors in 2008. He has been an on-campus speaker for various business classes and events sponsored by the Center for Entrepreneurship and has hosted several classes at the Shearer’s company headquarters in Brewster, Ohio.
He has been recognized with numerous accolades, including being inducted into the Northeast Ohio Business Hall of Fame and receiving the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. In addition to the Lake Erie College board, Shearer serves on the boards of Pegasus Farm, Melcap Partners, Kiko Auctioneers and Realty and Glenmoor Country Club.
“We are most grateful to Bob and Melissa Shearer for their generous support of the College,” said President Michael Victor. “Their leadership gift will not only assist the College in providing a high quality education for our students but will also motivate others to give.”
