Bedevelsky named ECAC Division II Offensive Player of the Week
November 11, 2008 – Lake Erie College freshman quarterback Sean Bedevelsky (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Offensive Player of the Week after recording his best collegiate performance to date in a 38-31 win against Kentucky Wesleyan. The first-year player went 21-for-27 with four touchdown passes, while tying the program record with 308 yards. He also had no interceptions and rushed for a total of 38 yards.
Against Kentucky Wesleyan, he opened the game with a three-play series that ended with a 75-yard touchdown pass to put Lake Erie on the board first. He then threw another nine-yard TD pass in the first quarter. In the fourth, he threw a 38-yard touchdown, that with the extra point, tied the game at 31 with 7:04 to play. He then finished the game with a nine-yard TD pass under the two-minute mark, which earned the third win in the Storm’s first year of varsity football.
The Player of the Week honor is the second of its kind in program history for the Storm. Junior tailback Tony Howard (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights) received the honor on Oct. 8, 2008.
For the season, Bedevelsky is 157-for-288 with 20 touchdowns for a total of 2,144 yards. He has 579 total rushing yards in 134 carries with three touchdowns. He ranks among the top 100 players in NCAA Division II in several statistical categories, including points responsible for (36th – 13.8 p/g), total passing yards (37th – 2,144 yds.), total offense (38th – 2,350 yds.), passing yards per game (43rd – 214.4 p/g), passing (56th) and passing efficiency (57th).
