Lake Erie College renames fund in memory of Jeanne E. Leroy
In memory of Jeanne E. (Nazor) LeRoy’s commitment as chairman of the Morley Organ Preservation Committee, Lake Erie College is renaming the Morley Organ Maintenance Endowment Fund. The endowment is now known as the Jeanne E. LeRoy Morley Organ Maintenance Endowment Fund.
The preservation committee’s goal was to secure $50,000 to restore the historic Skinner Pipe Organ and Morley Music Hall. The fund is currently approaching between $75,000-$100,000 and will begin distributions in the next year. “This is yet another lasting legacy that the committee has established,” said Scott Evans, vice president for institutional advancement.
LeRoy, a Lake Erie College graduate from the class of 1947, passed away May 9, 2008. After earning her master’s in education from Smith University in 1948, she taught kindergarten for several years in the Orange School District in Chagrin Falls, prior to her marriage to Milton J. LeRoy Jr., after which she dedicated herself to being a full time homemaker.
Devoting many years of service to Lake Erie College, LeRoy served on numerous committees including, for a time, serving as chairman of the scholarship committee. She was also active for many years in the choirs at Fairmount Presbyterian Church and Rocky River Presbyterian Church. She continued her commitment to children, serving as a volunteer at the nursery school run by the Rocky River Presbyterian Church.
