Cleveland Institute of Music concert April 20
The Lake Erie College Music Department will host the last of three Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) concerts on April 20 at 4 p.m. in Morley Music Hall.
This "CIM at LEC" concert will feature internationally-acclaimed artists, Romanian pianist, Lucia Markovich and soprano vocalist, Noriko Fujii Paukert performing piano and vocal works of Mozart and Beethoven.
Markovich is a member of the piano faculty of the preparatory division of CIM and studied at Lycée of Music and Arts in Cluj, Romania. She earned a master of art degree from Gh. Dima Conservatory and is the author of “The Most Current Methods of Teaching Piano to Beginners,” published in 1982. An accomplished soloist and recital pianist, she has performed frequently in recitals, with orchestras and with chamber music artists in Romania, Vienna and Cleveland.
Paukert is chairman of the Preparatory Voice Department at CIM and adjunct professor of voice at Cleveland State University since 1980. She also taught at the Cleveland Music School Settlement from 1975 to 1981. Paukert has performed Lieder recitals, oratorios and chamber music, as well as recordings for radio stations in the U.S., Japan and Europe. She has collaborated with the Saint Louis Symphony, Chicago Camerata and Flemish Music Festival (Belgium), among others.
