Thornton and Campbell named to All-AMCC Team
The Lake Erie College men’s basketball team placed two players on the 2008 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team. Junior forwards Derrick Thornton (University Heights, Ohio/Lutheran East) and Darnell Campbell (Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood) were voted first and second-team, respectively.
Thornton, who started all 28 games for the 18-9 Storm, led the team in scoring (16.7), rebounding (6.3) and steals (2.4). Voted AMCC Player of the Week and D3Hoops.com Team of the Week during the regular season, he finished the year ranked in the top 10 of the AMCC in seven statistical categories. He was second in steals, field goal percentage (56.2%) and free throw percentage (81.3%). He was sixth in offensive rebounds (2.4) and seventh in defensive rebounds (3.9) and overall rebounds. Thornton has made the All-AMCC First-Team two consecutive seasons.
