$4 million gift makes history at Lake Erie College
Anonymous donor provides half the funds for renovations to current science building
Lake Erie College has received the largest single gift in College history with an anonymous donation of $4 million.
This record-setting gift comes off the heels of a year of records in President Michael T. Victor’s inaugural year at the helm. Victor led the College to a record year in admissions, a record level of reinvestment into infrastructure and programs, a record level operating budget, a record level of fundraising and a record level of awareness.
The proceeds of this gift will provide more than half of the funds needed to renovate the Austin Science Center. The multi-million dollar renovation project will create an external Georgian façade on the building, while maximizing classroom, laboratory and student learning areas internally.
Though specific plans for the renovations are currently being reviewed by the board, it is certain that the building will utilize green technologies, particularly in the areas of lighting and heat.
“We are delighted to receive this outstanding gift to help start this very important project on campus,” said President Michael T. Victor. “Gifts such as this one demonstrate the certainty others have in this institution. We are confident this generous act will inspire others to support our programs.”
