Somerville named first Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Lake Erie College

Lake Erie College has named Cliff Somerville as the College’s first Entrepreneur-in-Residence. He will collaborate with MBA students and faculty with the development of the Lake Erie College Center for Entrepreneurship’s Business Plan Clinic.

Somerville provides a wealth of manufacturing, operations and general management experience establishing, managing and directing global business units, especially those related to the Asia-Pacific and emerging market regions. From 2003 to 2006, he increased the global transplant business revenues of an infant Asian automotive business by $190 million.

He started his career as a mechanical engineer at Ford Motor Company’s Automotive Assembly Division and as the founder and operator of Scientific Software Technologies (SST). His most recent position was as global vice president of a $2.7 billion automotive tier one overseeing all sales, marketing and customer relationship activities related to vehicle manufactures that are based outside North America, but have established operations domestically.

Somerville earned a master of arts degree in business administration in entrepreneurial management from Davenport University, a master of arts degree in industrial management and supervision from Central Michigan University and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Pacific Southern University.
