Lake Erie College has fostered and enriched over 10,000 men and women in pursuit of a time-honored, well-rounded liberal arts education. Lake Erie College selects Sax as new dean

Lake Erie College has recently chosen Richard Sax, Ph.D., as its new dean and vice president for Academic Affairs.
 
Sax will join Lake Erie College in May from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., where he is currently the dean of the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. In addition to his current role as dean, Sax teaches various college courses in English and literature, serving as professor of English.
 
During Sax’s career at Fort Lewis, he wrote, directed or co-directed more than $1,045,000 in grant proposals for various areas of arts and humanities teacher training. Additionally, he implemented new majors in American Indian Studies and Gender & Women’s Studies. Sax is also responsible for initiating the annual Duane Smith Lecture Series, the July 4th Downtown Durango American Voices readings and the annual Junior Faculty Colloquium. He also helped organize the Southwest Colorado National History Day.
 
Prior to working at Fort Lewis College, Sax was the dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Madonna University in Livonia, Mich. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Haverford College in Haverford, Pa., a master of arts with distinction degree and a doctorate degree in English language and literature from The University of Michigan.
