Dr. Paola Basile Represents LEC in Canada and Italy
Associate Professor of Italian and French Dr. Paola Basile successfully represented Lake Erie College abroad this year at the University of Victoria in Canada and the Umbra Institute in Italy. Both conferences were well-attended by professors and scholars from around the world.
The "Congress 2013 of the Humanities and Social Sciences" in Canada lasted eight days in late May and early June in 2013. The conference had nearly 70 scholarly association meetings and an average of 6,000 attendees and guest speakers from around the world. This year's theme was "@ The Edge." Dr. Basile also presented a paper on "Dante's poetry compared to Kubrick's film" and chaired a panel on "1900s Literature."
The first "International Conference on the Arts and Humanities: Bridges Across Culture" was held in late June 2013 in Italy. The conference provided an opportunity for academicians and professionals from various arts and humanities related fields from all over the world to come together and learn from each other. Dr. Basile was a member of the conference committee and presented a paper on "Federico Fellini's Surreal Vision of Rome" and chaired a panel on "Dante."
