Professor Nancy Prudic to Showcase Artwork in SlovakiaLake Erie College will be showing off some of its skills in Slovakia this summer.
Associate Professor Nancy Prudic has shipped her sculpture to be shown in the Cleveland Sculptors Exhibition taking place June 27 through September.
The show, titled "Stirring the Waters: Across the Pond, Cleveland Sculptors in Bratislava," serves as a way to introduce different cultures through art.
The annual show changes every year and features international work. It began in 1996.
The local work will visit a total of three cities during its time overseas, Prudic said. Her work is made of different materials that represent the way women are perceived and their roles and functions in Western culture.
She crafted small sculptures of herself out of bronze, clay, sweet bread and paper, each to depict another perception of women, she said.
Three of the materials will be displayed on a three-tier dessert tray, while the paper will be in a waste basket.
