| Students interested in majoring in chemistry at Lake Erie College will find a state-of-the-art science facility. The recently remodeled Austin Hall of Science holds ample laboratory space for hands-on investigation of the chemical principles. | |
| Most of the academic class sizes lend to close personal interaction between the students and professors. Many chemistry majors will enjoy the opportunity to learn through internships with local industries, or participate in independent research projects within the department. While staying true to the Liberal Arts emphasis of the College, chemistry majors are prepared to enter the workforce in chemical related industries or continue in graduate or professional programs. |

A major in chemistry reflecting the individual's interest and proposed career should be planned in consultation with the chemistry faculty. Some careers require either post-baccalaureate training in professional schools or graduate study in chemistry or biochemistry. Students planning post-baccalaureate study should consult appropriate science faculty early in their college careers. This major prepares students for careers relating to the chemical professions such as laboratory work, teaching or chemical sales, as well as careers that require an advanced degree such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or Ph.D. level research.
