Lake Erie College Honors Program - Taking Chicago by Storm!
October 10 - 12, 2013
Over Fall break 2013, members of the Lake Erie College Honors Program were invited to travel to Chicago. Seven students were able to participate and they were accompanied by Dr. Deborah Schulman, Dr. Jennifer Collis and Jonathan Klein. The group had the opportunity to stay at Hostels International, Chicago, which is very conveniently located. It is also part of an international group of Hostels, and therefore the other guests were from all over the world.

The trip was brief, but packed with activity. Immediately upon arrival in the Chicago area, the group visited SkyDeck, which gives a view of the entire city from the top of the Willis building. After that, the group toured the outside art exhibitions that are everywhere in Chicago. Finally, they walked to the Magnificent Mile, toured the lobby and exterior of the Chicago Tribune Building and had dinner.

The second day started at the Shedd Aquarium, followed by the Field Museum of Natural History and the Art Institute. The visit to the aquarium included a marine mammal show, and the Field Museum provided a 3D movie about Sue, the largest and most complete T. rex fossil ever found. After all that, the group still had enough energy to walk to the Navy Pier for dinner and cheesecake at Harry Caray's.

Before departing for home on the third day, the group went to the Museum of Science and Industry and saw an IMAX movie entitled "Space Junk."
