Discipline Specific Accreditation

Lake Erie College was authorized by the Ohio Board of Regents in 1856. In 1913, the college received accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.  Other Lake Erie College programs hold the following additional accreditations: statements, and advertising to provide fair and accurate information about their programs and services.  Member institutions are expected to provide clear institutional contact information and, when HLC affiliation is mentioned, use an approved affiliation statement and provide HLC contact information.

Special Accreditation - Business

Lake Erie College has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), located in Lenexa, Kansas, USA. The business programs in the following degrees are accredited by the IACBE:
  • Bachelor Degree of Arts in Management and Sports Management
  • Bachelor Degree of Science in Accounting, Business Administration, International Business and Marketing
  • Master Degree of Business Administration with concentrations in General Management and Healthcare Administration
Mission of the Management Studies Division
The objective of the Management Studies Division is to produce graduates who have the knowledge and necessary analytical skills to think critically, to make sound and ethical business decisions, to develop in their chosen careers, and to participate actively in the world around them.
Learning Goals, Measures and Outcomes
At both the undergraduate and graduate levels, the Management Studies Division has established goals for student learning and measures of learning outcomes which serve as a basis for continuous improvement.

Special Accreditation - Education

Lake Erie College is a candidate to receive specialized accreditation for its education programs through the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). TEAC offers an accreditation system that gives great weight to the evidence of student accomplishment the program relies on to prove that its graduates are competent.
Special Accreditation - Equine Studies
Lake Erie College is an approved British Horse Society Establishment, gaining certification/approval by the internationally renowned British Horse Society (BHS).  It is the first to be approved in the state of Ohio and only the second American college to gain approval.  The BHS began its certification program in 1947 to promote the interests of horse and pony breeding and to encourage the protection and welfare of these animals.  It also exists to promote the distribution of knowledge of the management of horses and ponies.  There are more than 900 BHS approved facilities in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Hong Kong, Spain, Italy, Dubai, Malaysia and the United States.  The BHS is headquartered in Kenilworth, Warwickshire England and can be found on the web at www.bhs.org.uk.
